Human rights activist, pioneer for racial equality, internationally recognized expert on sports issues, scholar and author Richard E. Lapchick is often described as the racial conscience of sport.” Lapchick is the DeVos Eminent Scholar Chair and Director of the Sport Business Management Graduate Program in the College of Business Administration at the University of Central Florida. He founded both Northeastern University’s Center for the Study of Sport in Society as well as the National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS) and is now the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Consortium. Lapchick is a regular columnist for the Sports Business Journal and ESPN.com. Among many honors, he was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame of the Commonwealth Nations in the Humanitarian category along with Nelson Mandela and Arthur Ashe and received the Arthur Ashe Voice of Conscience Award.
